USS WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108)

One of the more impressive events of a lifetime is to witness the commissioning of a United States warship. This past Saturday, October 10, 2009, Eve and I were among the invited guests at the commissioning of USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG-108), the latest addition to our Pacific Fleet. Because Admiral Wayne Meyer had connections with the City of Philadelphia and environs, the commissioning took place at Penn's Landing, and here are some views of our most recent guided missile destroyer on that day... Hand salute from ship's company. It was a day that made me proud of my long-ago Navy days. After that, we went to visit some dear friends at Sea Isle City, NJ...
